Attorney Position

McDermott Law, LLC, is always looking for the right addition to the team. We are boutique law firm dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals who have claims for insurance benefits in the areas of long-term and short-term disability, life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), health, and long-term care. Many of the claims arise under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), but the firm also represent individuals with their claims under individual policies, church plans, and governmental plans such as the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association (PERA).

Duties and Responsibilities

• Preparing internal administrative appeals of denied claims
• Drafting and prosecuting ERISA and insurance bad faith lawsuits
• Client counseling in all stages of internal appeals and litigation
• Attending hearings
• Legal research and writing

Qualifications and Experience:

• Licensed and in good standing with the Colorado State Bar
• Experience handling insurance matters and civil litigation
• Strong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Experience with preparing motions, briefs, pleadings, and discovery
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Substantial knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
• Compassion for the plight of our clients
